Willoughby Wasteland
I was actually excited when I got the notice in the mail for jury duty.
I was excited to go to Willoughby Street in Downtown Brooklyn, even at 8:45 AM, ridiculously early for me.
I sat down in the Central Jury Room, leafed through Sports Illustrated and waited, still excited that maybe I could get on a case, maybe I'd get a couple of state-sanctioned nights off from work, maybe I'd get to go to Philly on Friday, maybe this, maybe that.

Help Me Out
I'm about to go for jury duty for the first time in my life at an insanely early hour of the morning. Of course, my jury duty comes on my day off, but I'm hoping it extends through Friday, a day I couldn't get off from work. If it does, I get to go to Philly on Friday night, which would be awesome.
Anyway, now that I can get your feedback right here on the site, I'm going to take advantage of it, or at least try to. This is the first "Help Me Out" entry, in which I'll ask a question or a series of questions in hopes of somebody being able to tell me what's up. And the first question I'm asking may even have a real answer.

Welcome!
Jessespector.com has been online for just five and a half months, but it was time to make a change.
The way that this site has been working, I've had to do an awful lot of HTML formatting and FTP baloney anytime I wanted to update the site. Nothing difficult, just a lot of tedious stuff that made it a bit of a hassle. Such is the nature of a "handmade" website, and while it was a labor of love, it was unnecessary.
So, the site is now powered by Greymatter, which requires me to only type things and click a button to add an entry. It's about a million times easier for me.
Plus, there's a benefit for you. Since I was never going to figure it out on my own, I had somewhat cast aside the idea of adding a comments section to the site. Now, thanks go Greymatter, you'll be able to comment on each entry yourself. This site will no longer be a one-way conduit of information.
I still don't really think of this as a blog, just as a personal website with an emphasis on writing. Maybe that's because I think of a blog as being more like a diary/journal type thing. I look at this as more of a keyhole for the rest of the world to peer into my often-twisted brain.
Just a couple more things to explain. First is that entries on the front page of the section will be incomplete unless they're really, really short. I'll put the first few paragraphs of whatever I've written on the front page and you can click the "click for more" button to read entries in their entirety.
Go ahead, do it now!
