05/05/2005: "Project Baseball: Part 8"
There wasn't much juice to this matchup, but it was a nice day at the ballpark...
May 5
Phillies at Mets
Seats: Mezzanine Reserved, Section 5 (Right of home plate)
Who I Went With: George, Joe, John, Mike and Mike
Hot Dogs: 2
Beers: 0
Game Highlight: Kris Benson's season debut got off to a rollicking start as Jimmy Rollins bunted into a groundout and Chase Utley and Bobby Abreu struck out looking. Mike Piazza's three-run homer was the icing for the Mets, making it 7-2 at the time before Mike DeJean served up a three-run shot to Jimmy Rollins in the ninth.
It Was Over When: Pat Burrell struck out looking to end the game. I was convinced he'd hit a two-run homer to tie it off Braden Looper.
Go To The Ballpark & See Something You've Never Seen Before: I can't believe that Cliff Floyd, on a 20-game hitting streak, got the day off. I've never seen anything like that. Also, 10 of the game's 20 strikeouts were on called third strikes. Very strange.
