03/21/2005: "Lousy Meddling"
As it stands right now, had I not made Casey more dog-oriented, and stuck with his coin flips, he'd have 45 points, lead the pool, have six of his Elite Eight teams left and three of his Final Four, in addition to his National Champion and runner-up. Instead, he has 39 points and no chance whatsoever to win this thing.
I feel like a tremendous jerk.
Best possible total scores...
Morton Witherspoon: 140
Me: 115
Mom: 113
Caroline: 93
Casey: 75
If Casey's picks had not been changed, his best possible score at this point would be 133. His Final Four was Illinois, Gonzaga, Villanova and Kentucky. I will stop beating myself up over this now.
Morton Witherspoon is only two points off the lead of the big pool. If he wins, for tax and legal purposes, he will receive a canister of the salt with which he shares a first name. My treat.
By the way, here's who we all had for the Final Four...
Morton Witherspoon: Illinois, Washington, North Carolina, Kentucky (North Carolina over Illinois)
Me: Oklahoma State, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Syracuse (Oklahoma State over North Carolina)
Mom: Illinois, Louisville, Connecticut, Duke (Louisville over Connecticut)
Caroline: Illinois, Gonzaga, Kansas, Duke (Gonzaga over Duke)
Casey: Illinois, Gonzaga, Connecticut, Duke (Connecticut over Gonzaga)
The one year I don't pick Kentucky to go all the way, just you watch... I won't stop beating myself up over that.
