12/16/2004: "Pictures 17: Bridging Hell Gate"
Two bridges connect northwestern Queens with mainland America... the Triborough, which lets cars cross the upper part of the East River known as Hell Gate and the Hell Gate Bridge, which carries trains over the same. Both curve to go into the Bronx, using Randall's and Ward's Islands to turn. The Triborough also goes to Manhattan, hence its name.

The Hell Gate is a pretty nice looking bridge for one that hardly anyone ever thinks about.
